MedElan Art on Ice

Art on Ice is a Swiss figure skating gala. It combines performances by the world’s best figure skaters with those of international music stars.

The show took place on an idea by Oliver Höner for the first time in 1995 under the title World Figure Skating in the ice rink in Küsnacht. A year later, the show went on stage with a new concept and live music under the name Art on Ice in the much larger Hallenstadion in Zurich. The show is now held on four evenings in front of around 10,000 spectators each.

On the 14.02.2020 MeElan Health visited the show in Basel.

Falls in the Elderly

In 2018, an average of thirteen people died each day as a result of an unfortunate fall, according to figures that the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) presented on Wednesday.

In 2018, 4,628 Dutch people died within 30 days of an unfortunate fall; almost six hundred more than in the year before. Three quarters of the deceased were eighty years of age or older.Statistics Netherlands falls accidentally falling, tripping or slipping under an unfortunate fall. People who die after a fall with a vehicle, such as a mobility scooter or walker, are not included.

The number of deaths from an unfortunate fall has been rising for years. Statistics Netherlands relates a part of this to the aging population. Nonetheless, with a correction for the changing age structure of the population, Statistics Netherlands also sees that more and more people have died in the last four years as a result of a fall.

Between 2013 and 2017, between 66,000 and 70,000 people were admitted to hospital every year after an unfortunate fall. This is often the case for people over 80 after falling out of bed or down the stairs. In 2017, there were twice as many women as men in that age category.

The unfair prize money distribution in Formula 1

Prize money distribution in formula 1

Bernie Ecclestone has made Formula One what it is today. He has left his successors for the way forward of the race series but also some „potholes“. One of them is the distribution of huge prize money totaling almost one billion euros – annually.

This amount will not (simply) be simply distributed to the teams based on the positions in the Constructors‘ Championship. Ecclestone has built up over the years rather an extremely complex system of special payments and bonuses, because he thus secured political backing from the top teams.
The most prominent example is Ferrari: Although the Italian traditional team has not conquered a world title for over ten years, it cuts the largest annual payments.
Or Williams: The sporting descent of the racing sport from England continues and the team in the table cellar. Nevertheless, Williams collects some more prize money than the better placed competition.

In general, the gap in the field is huge: The lowest prize money yield of a team is just 25 percent of what Ferrari through his various bonuses einstreicht.
All this shows our new video. It informs vividly and in detail about which team gets How much out of the prize money pot and sets this also in relation to the entire Formula 1 prize money. It also explains how bonuses and bonuses have historically evolved and grown.
It becomes clear how urgently Formula 1 must bring about a reform here as well. Because the „Ecclestone system“ is more than obsolete.

one against 22 and a ball..

‚It’s a big disappointment. We should talk about how Ajax played nice football but we cannot because one man came and stole everything

‚We saw the situation. It’s a foul on Daley Blind. Then it’s not a second yellow for Daley Blind. Then it’s not a second yellow for Joel Veltman. Then it’s not a penalty.

‚Never in my life have I seen a triple punishment. But everything started with the foul on Daley Blind. He was tackled by Christian Pulisic but then, yeah, it’s a big disappointment because I don’t like to make excuses.

Cycling for Freezing Gait in Parkinson’s Disease

Patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease would do well to purchase an exercise bike. In the early phase of the disease, patients clearly benefit from having to cycle vigorously on the home trainer three times a week, researchers at Radboudumc discovered. The scientists call the effect ‚quite large‘.

A nice fact is that such an exercise bike can in principle be purchased by anyone. „Formally it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as your heart rate goes up and you start to gasp from it. We found an exercise bike extremely suitable, because you can do this safely at home.“
